The Women’s Football Association \ 
Women's Euro 2005 / Ad Campaign

 

Back when the all conquering Lionesses were just cubs, I worked on this campaign across the North West ahead of the Women’s Euro football tournament in the summer of 2005. 

 

I came up with the line “A more beautiful game” to capture the flowing, skilful brand of football that was about to take England by storm. Visually, that idea was brought to life with a flowing illustrative style for the players, plenty of white space, and the Stilla typeface, designed by the renowned French typographer François Boltana. 

 

The campaign mainly ran out-of-home but was also backed up with postcards, football magazine ads, and giveaway posters, each one introducing the public to another one of English football’s finest.
